This is one of my best recipes. It's not as aesthetically pleasing as I would like, but the taste well makes up for it! I came up with this recipe when I was craving some Red Lobster. You know those yummy buttery biscuits they have there? This is sort of my version since we don't have any Red Lobsters on this side of the Atlantic!

DDD Biscuits
  • 2 cups plain flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 6 tbsp ice-cold butter (3oz / 3/4 stick)
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp white pepper
  • 3/4 cup sliced green onions (green and white parts)
  • 1 cup grated cheddar cheese (grate your own, it's cheaper, fresher and tastes much better!)
  • 3tbsp butter to brush mixed with 1/2 tsp garlic powder

Mix flour, baking powder and spices in large bowl. Cut the butter into the flour mixture using a pastry cutter or two knives. When it resembles fine breadcrumbs, add the cheese and scallions mix, then add milk but don't over mix.

Using a large spoon drop onto a greased cookie sheet or ungreased stoneware sheet. Make as big or small as you would like. Melt remaining butter and mix in garlic powder. Brush tops of biscuits. If there is any left, take out halfway through baking and brush again.

Bake at 200C/400F for 15-20 minutes until golden brown and sort of crusty as opposed to squishy (technical terms indeed) when tapped. Serve alone or with more butter... carghhhhlllgrrr (Homer Simpson drooling noise!)

Enjoy and PLEASE comment, let me know if you tried it and what you think!!!
